Having worked in structural consulting since 1994 Robert spent 10 years working in the Vancouver area for leading structural consultants as well as specialty structural steel manufacturers. He has extensive experience designing in every principal material (wood, timber, steel, aluminum, concrete and masonry) in a variety of structural building forms in high seismic and heavy snowfall locales in Canada and around the world. He helped found RDJ Structural Designs in 2004 and has had a leading role in developing a strong consultancy to several established, local design-build contractors building in the tilt-up method of construction. Robert also has focused on design in special aluminum structures for contractor clients around North America with strong ties to several local contractors. Robert continues to expand the tilt-up sector of the firm and is continually improving the firm’s level of quality and service to many customers who demand timely response to stay strong and competitive. Since obtaining his Chartered Member status in 2005 he has lectured yearly at the IStructE Chartered Exam preparation seminars and at BCIT. He is also a member of the Technical and Communications Committees in the SEABC. He presently is chair of the Task Force on Guards in British Columbia. Robert is a registered professional engineer in the provinces of BC, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Ontario. In BC he is a Designated Structural Engineer. Robert is working towards PE registration in the United States.
